Associate Dean of Humanities assists Dean with the management of administrative functions of the college of humanities. Collaborates with Dean on planning college strategic initiatives and supports on college fundraising. Being an Associate Dean of Humanities provides administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Typically requires an advanced degree. Additionally, Associate Dean of Humanities typically reports to a Dean. The Associate Dean of Humanities typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. Temporary Part Time Hourly CHSS Public Relations Coordinator (College of Humanities and Social Sciences)

  • Reporting to the Associate Dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHSS), the Public Relations (PR) Coordinator is a part-time position that serves as a support for the CHSS Dean’s Office. The PR Coordinator will be primarily responsible for collaborating with members of the Dean’s Office, as well as Chairs and Coordinators within the College to draft and execute a strategic PR plan for the College. Using all forms of media including written and electronic, the PR Coordinator will organize and monitor publicity efforts that advance the mission of the College and create a uniform identity for the College.

    The following describes the general duties and responsibilities of the PR Coordinator. This document does not cover all job expectations or specific procedures for completing these responsibilities. All Rowan employees are expected to review and abide by additional policies and specific procedures described in other documents including manuals, as well as all local, state and federal laws.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Oversee and coordinate the College’s social media platforms to build, maintain and manage CHSS’s social media presence (e.g. Facebook, X, Instagram, and LinkedIn).
    • Supervise one undergraduate intern who supports social media efforts.
    • Review the existing CHSS visibility plan and update accordingly.
    • Support the PR needs of CHSS Deans Office and the Center for Professional Success.
    • Partner with the Dean’s Office, as well as external partners, to coordinate and produce an Annual Report and semesterly electronic newsletters.
    • Liaise with university public relations staff to better promote news and happenings through university channels.
    • Develop original messaging in the form of print and electronic materials that is tailored to a variety of audiences including students, faculty, alumni, donors, and other external stakeholders (e.g. flyers, social media posts, brochures)
    • Utilize Cascade to edit College website messaging, as needed.

    Expected Time Commitment: The PR Coordinator is part-time position that constitutes a 20-hour per week commitment. The position will involve occasional commitments that fall outside of the agreed upon schedule. Weekly hours will be adjusted to accommodate these commitments.

    Contract Term: The start date for the position will be discussed upon hire. The contract term will run until Sunday, June 30th, 2024. Continuation of employment may be possible if funding allows.

    Supervision and Evaluation: The PR Coordinator is supervised by the Associate Dean of CHSS. Regular formal and informal meetings with the Associate Dean will promote a culture of collaboration and ongoing feedback.

    Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree desired. The successful candidate will be able to:

    • Work autonomously with limited direct supervision;
    • Collaborate effectively in a team setting
    • Demonstrate organization, communication, prioritization, and presentation skills;
    • Engage in research and creative thinking;
    • Analyze and compile data from survey tools;
    • Demonstrate excellent writing skills;
    • Use Microsoft Office applications, Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Cascade (training can be provided).

    Compensation: $16-$20/hour (commensurate with education and experience)

    Notes:

    • This temporary, part-time position is assigned no more than twenty-five (25) hours per week and is not to exceed 944 hours per fiscal year. Work is contracted annually to coincide with the fiscal year and is contingent upon budget appropriate.
