Associate Dean of Law jobs in Sacramento, CA
Associate Dean of Law assists Dean with the management of administrative functions of the college of law. Collaborates with Dean on planning college strategic initiatives and supports on college fundraising. Being an Associate Dean of Law provides administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Typically requires an advanced degree. Additionally, Associate Dean of Law typically reports to a Dean. The Associate Dean of Law typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. To be an Associate Dean of Law typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Candidate must have 5 years experience representing public agencies on transactional and advisory matters, and have direct experience serving as legal advisor to a planning commission or another public body or board. Must have experience providing advice on compliance with the Brown Act, Public Records Act and Political Reform Act. Attorney should be able to step in to cover planning commissions and other meetings.
Significant experience in at least one or more of the following areas is required: Land use and zoning laws (granting of Variances, CUPs), environmental regulation and compliance (including CEQA/NEPA), development agreements, redevelopment dissolution process, water law, election law, first amendment law, medical marijuana law, fair housing/group home regulation.
