Associate Dean of Mathematics assists Dean with the management of administrative functions of the college of mathematics. Collaborates with Dean on planning college strategic initiatives and supports on college fundraising. Being an Associate Dean of Mathematics provides administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Typically requires an advanced degree. Additionally, Associate Dean of Mathematics typically reports to a Dean. The Associate Dean of Mathematics typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. PRIMARY FUNCTION: Provide student appropriate learning activities and experiences in the academic subject area assigned in order to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function in contemporary society and pass all state required student assessments. Develop and implement lesson plans for the curriculum assigned and emply accomodations for individual student differences.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Use strategies and activities to increase student performance in content area and on standardized testing, present subject matter in accordance with the guidelines established by TEA, board policies, and administrative regulations. Use appropriate instructional strategies, best practices, activities, materials, and equipment for assigned students as well as improve study methods and habits. Work cooperatively with speical education teachers to modify curriculum as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in IEPs. Assess student achievement through formal and informal testing. Demonstrate professional, responsible, and ethical behavior, participate in district and campus staff developement and faculty meetings. Demonstrate interest in and initiative toward continued professional developement. Maintain professional relationships with colleagues, students, facility membres, and community members. Manaage student behaviors in accordance with board policies, IEPSs, BIPs, administrative regulations, facility behavioroal programs, and the Student Code of Conduct. Remain informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for teachers. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documentation as required. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
