Associate Dean of Nursing assists Dean with the management of administrative functions of the college of nursing. Collaborates with Dean on planning college strategic initiatives and supports on college fundraising. Being an Associate Dean of Nursing provides administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Typically requires an advanced degree. Additionally, Associate Dean of Nursing typically reports to a Dean. The Associate Dean of Nursing manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be an Associate Dean of Nursing typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage all aspects of nursing operations within the organization
- Develop and implement nursing policies and procedures to ensure high-quality patient care
- Provide leadership and guidance to nursing staff, including training and development
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and ensure effective communication
- Monitor and evaluate nursing performance to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and standards of practice
- Participate in strategic planning and goal setting for the nursing department
- Serve as a liaison between nursing staff, administration, and other departments
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and hospice care systems
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team
- Proficient in shift management and scheduling to ensure adequate staffing levels
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals
- Ability to make critical decisions in high-pressure situations
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Experience in home health or similar healthcare settings is preferred
