Collaborates with Dean on planning college strategic initiatives and supports on college fundraising. Being an Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs provides administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Typically requires an advanced degree. Additionally, Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs typically reports to a Dean. The Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     School Description:

    The School of Technology & Computing offers diverse programs for Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctoral students in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Information Systems, and Information Technology. Our alums work throughout the tech industry in the Greater Seattle metropolitan area, including Amazon, Adobe, Microsoft, Pinterest, Google, etc.

    Job Summary:

    Reporting to the Dean, the Undergraduate Program Director is responsible for defining and executing the overall mission of the undergraduate programs in Applied Computer Science. The Program Director will lead and improve the program's computing environment and technology infrastructure by infusing cloud computing, AI tools, and industry certifications.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Establish and implement new concentrations or degree programs to position CityU as a local leader in Technology and Computing.
    • Launch new initiatives related to technology and computing fields to generate opportunities for funding by federal agencies and the commercial industry.
    • Provide vision and leadership to position the program as an innovation, technology, and computing education leader.
    • Build and foster successful partnerships with local and national universities and industry.
    • Positively contribute to quality student experience by ensuring the success of program components.
    • Develop and coordinate curricula and programs in Computer Science.
    • Improve program courses according to the emerging computing environment, technology infrastructure, and industry certifications.
    • Teach three courses per year or the equivalent as assigned by the Dean.
    • Oversee the performance of instructors to ensure course content quality.
    • Advocate for student learning and engagement.
    • Prepare and submit grant proposals for training, workforce development, and research.
    • Develop regional outreach to communities and draw potential students to the technology and computing programs.
    • Maintain faculty qualifications (including teaching, scholarship/research, publication, and service).


    Requirements:

    Minimum Qualifications:

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skills, and abilities required.     • Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution. A master's degree in computer science with solid teaching and industry experience may be considered.
    • Minimum of six years of software industry experience in Computer Science.
    • Minimum of two years of teaching experience.
    • Demonstrated continuous research or creative activities. Funding experience desired.
    • Demonstrated experience in curriculum development, including graduate courses and programs in face-to-face and online environments.
    • A genuine understanding of the practitioner-faculty model and the importance of providing students with the highest educational experience in technology and computing.
    • A demonstrated commitment to the effective mentoring of faculty.
    • Must have the leadership skills and vision to advance the programs to new heights, which includes a strong sense of where the field is headed and an understanding of several sub-disciplines of technology and computing.
    • Possess strong academic integrity, strong oral and written communication skills, and a focus on openness and transparency.

    Salary information:

    $90,000 - 110,000/year
