All employees are required to be aware of our Quality Policy and must adhere to AITC's established ISO policies, standards, andprocedures.Position OverviewThe Publishing Editor - Senior is responsible for developing, editing, and publishing the Military Intelligence (MI) Professional Bulletin and doctrinal publications developed by the doctrine development writers. Planning, coordinating, and proof-reading materials for publication complying with governing standards, including Army publication guidelines.Responsibilities / Duties
- Participate in writing teams.
- Engage early in the writing process with the writing team and graphic designers to ensure logical organization of drafts.
- Engage with graphic designer for recommendations and subject matter expertise for the layout and design of publications.
- Review drafts for templating, APD publishing standards, organization, and logic before the Signature Draft is provided to the appropriate authority for approval.
- Review the Final Approved Draft (FAD), which is the approved Signature Draft, again and prepare the Final Electronic Copy (FEF) in PDF.
- Prepare TR Form 25-36-1 (Publishing Checklist - TRADOC's Army Doctrinal and Training Publishing Program).
- Prepare DA Form 260 (Request for Publishing).
Minimum Requirements- Active Secret security clearance.
- Bachelor's Degree in English, journalism, or related field.
- Strong command of the English language, to include applying the rules of grammar, mechanics, and usage.
- Ability to recognize and work with U.S. Government, Department of Defense (DOD), and Army language idiosyncrasies.
- Highly detail oriented.
- Ability and willingness to work independently.
- Possess excellent communication skills and the ability to use them to interact and communicate effectively and professionally with the technical staff, especially technical writers.
- Extensive working knowledge of Microsoft (MS) Office Suite applications and Adobe applications for publication editing, to include MS Word and Adobe Acrobat Pro, respectively.
- Ability to edit an average of 700 words per hour.
- Minimum 5 years of experience performing the technical writing and editing of technical documents/print publications IAW industry writing standards.
- Experience must reflect the ability to proofread, concisely revise, and produce technical documents ready for publication or dissemination following professional standards for pagination and format.
Preferred Skills/Knowledge- Familiarity with military and/or military intelligence (MI) terminology.
- Experience performing the technical writing and editing of technical documents/print publications IAW U.S. Government, Army, and TRADOC writing standards.
Physical Demands- Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards.
- Must have the ability to lift and carry up to 10 pounds occasionally and walk short distances.
- Repetitive motion.
- Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
- Have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing: viewing a computer monitor; extensive reading.
