  • POSITION SUMMARY


    The Assistant Director of Financial Aid is responsible for Pell and Loan Reconciliation, as well as the processing unit within the financial aid office. Supervises and trains staff on federal and state regulations. Ensure all emails and voicemails are answered. Resolves conflicts with students and/or parents. Serve as one of the leads for any SIS student system implementation. Assists with the grant process, researching and investigating information, participating in meetings, conferences, and team activities, working with other departments and managers, and providing information. Other duties include editing materials, composing, screening, responding to escalations, and participating in the staff selection process. Coordinates the Federal Return of Title IV Funds process.


    TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES


    • Oversee Pell and Loan awarding and adjusting daily.
    • Process all dependency overrides, special circumstances, conflicting information, employee waivers, and citizenship.
    • Responsible for Pell and Loan Reconciliation as well as the processing unit within the financial aid office.
    • Supervise and train staff on federal and state regulations to ensure compliance.
    • Communicates information to assist with the grant process, research and investigates information, participates in meetings, conferences, and team activities.
    • Assist with Reporting (FISAP, SAP, FAD, IPEDS, THECB reports)
    • Colleague/Anthology Knowledge & Software updates (degree audit)
    • Cyclical preparation and planning (e.g., summer/academic year demands)
    • Support the Director and staff with training and customer service. Resolution of day-to-day issues that occur in the financial aid office.
    • Provide support to staff with federal and state regulation updates and individual advising for students.
    • Work with other departments such as business office, enrollment, registrar, veterans, and other various offices to insure timely and accurate financial aid awarding.
    • The successful candidate must possess at least a master’s degree (Ph.D. preferred) with 18 graduate credits in Journalism or Communication.
    • Training and experience in journalism, publishing, advertising, marketing, film & television, new media, audio and visual production (preferred experience with Adobe Creative Suite), and public speaking will all be considered.

    • Proficient in all Microsoft Applications
    • Knowledgeable about all current and upcoming federal and state regulations
    • Knowledge of financial aid counseling, verification, rules, and regulations
    • Strong analytical abilities and produces detailed-oriented work with accuracy
    • Strong communication and organizational skills.

    • This position reports to the Director of Financial Aid


    SALARY RANGE


    • $52,00 annually, plus benefits!
