Nature of Work
Assist with the administration of federal and state student aid programs by processing and verifying applications, processing awards, running disbursements, tracking scholarships/waivers, drafting letters, monitoring academic progress and running reports. Answer questions and provide financial aid information regarding scholarships, grants, work study, and student loans.
Examples of Work Performed
Essential Duties:
1. Assists with the administration of the Federal and State Student Aid programs in accordance to federal and state regulations. Assign financial aid award notifications to students. Monitor continued eligibility for the various programs in accordance to the federal and state regulations, including Satisfactory Academic Progress and Return to Title IV
2. Provide financial aid information and respond to specific questions about a student’s case by phone, walk-in, and email. Monitor email accounts.
3. Assists with the federal and state payment processes, which include transmitting and receiving electronic files to and from COD, down//uploading electronic files to and from the student information system, and reconciling disbursement records with COD, including troubleshooting related issues as they surface
4. Assists with the Work Study program for both the on and off campus functions, including administering the America Reads, Community Service programs and the Off Campus contracts and appropriate communications
5. Administer the verification process, which includes verifying FAFSA accuracy on all applications selected, making the appropriate corrections and submitting to the Central Processing System and providing appropriate communications
6. Assists with the management of all fund balances for the federal and state programs and oversee the limited resource funds are fully expended for each award year
7. Assists with Direct Loan reconciliation
8. Administer outside scholarships and manage student aid over awards
Secondary Duties:
1. Process staff waiver forms
2. Complete external forms requesting financial aid package information, including but not limited to BIA, Vocational Rehabilitation, Low Income Housing forms, etc
3. Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Financial Aid
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or related work experience
Experience in business education, administration, computer training and/or related areas
Must have good oral and written communication skills
Must maintain confidentiality of information concerning student records

The physical requirements for this position may include, but are not necessarily limited to, the ability to use a computer, calculator, telephone, keyboard, and/or various types of office equipment. Must be able to effectively communicate in verbal and written formats and satisfactorily perform the functions of this position.
