Associate General Counsel is responsible for ensuring an organization's compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Develops and reviews an organization's policies, practices, and guidelines. Being an Associate General Counsel assists in protecting an organization's legal interest and maintaining its operations within the scope established by law. Provides counsel to senior leadership. Additionally, Associate General Counsel identifies and analyzes legal issues, drafts key documents, presents clear recommendations to top management, and assures legal compliance. Assists or represents the organization in business negotiations. Requires a JD. Requires State Bar membership. Typically reports to top legal executive. The Associate General Counsel manages a departmental function within a broader corporate function. Develops major goals to support broad functional objectives. Approves policies developed within various sub-functions and departments. To be an Associate General Counsel typically requires 8+ years of managerial experience.     The Associate Counsel, Transactional will focus on the sporting events business and the IMG Academy business. The ideal candidate has extensive transactional experience at a top law firm or in-house and has some familiarity with sports law and/or live events.

    Primary responsibilities include:

    • Drafting and negotiating sponsorship, event, facility-use, appearance, employment, vendor and other agreements, primarily in connection with sporting events
    • Providing real-time advice on business and legal issues relating to live events and preparatory boarding school related issues, including interpretation and enforcement of contracts and policies
    • Drafting and managing camp registration forms and releases
    • Researching and staying up to date on the latest trends and issues for live events, including the participation of minors in live events
    • Efficiently managing contract-administration and document-management processes
    • Implementing and refining policies and procedures to ensure a safe and compliant environment for student-athletes at the IMG Academy
    • Working with and supporting other members of the IMG Academy Legal Team on a wide array of sports and entertainment events

    Qualifications:

    • 3-5 Years Experience at a top law firm and/or in-house practice working in the live event or education industry
    • Exceptional drafting, negotiation and organizational skills
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills that will enable interaction with a range of personalities and styles in a fast-paced business environment (including explaining legal concepts to clients and colleagues without legal knowledge, and with limited time)
    • Solid analytic skills, creative problem-solving abilities and a practical business-oriented viewpoint
    • Detail-oriented, ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize and produce quality work within deadlines
    • Upbeat temperament, dynamic personality, proactive and highly team-oriented approach to work
