Additionally, Associate General Counsel identifies and analyzes legal issues, drafts key documents, presents clear recommendations to top management, and assures legal compliance. Assists or represents the organization in business negotiations. Requires a JD. Requires State Bar membership. Typically reports to top legal executive. The General Counsel and Compliance Officer is responsible for assuring Southern Mono Healthcare District dba Mammoth Hospital (SMHD) at all times maintains business integrity, that all applicable statutes, regulations, and policies are followed, that behavior in the organization aligns with the Code of Conduct, and that a culture of legal and ethical compliance is promoted to help ensure the delivery of safe and reliable care to all patients. The General Counsel and Compliance Officer has the authority to review all documents and other information relevant to compliance activities, including, but not limited to, patient records, billing records, personnel records, records concerning marketing efforts and all arrangements with third parties, including without limitation employees, independent contractors, suppliers, agents and physicians. The General Counsel and Compliance Officer advises Senior Management and the Board of Directors on compliance and legal issues relevant to hospital operations as requested in a timely and effective manner. The position reports to the CEO and SMHD Governing Board, and has direct access to the Senior Management Team.
