    JOB TITLE:

    Associate Director of Global Engagement

    JOB PURPOSE: Provide strategic planning and project management support to the Global Engagement Office with specific responsibility for developing and stewarding strategic partnerships, managing grant proposals and funds, and collecting and communicating data pertaining to UW's global footprint to assist with cultivating interdisciplinary global projects and improving international rankings.

    Job Overview:
    The Associate Director for Global Engagement occupies a key leadership position, working closely with the Vice Provost for Global Engagement to plan, coordinate, implement and assess global programs across all departments within the Global Engagement Office and in collaboration with academic departments across the colleges. The Associate Director serves as the central administrator for the Global Engagement Office in the absence of the Vice Provost and plays an important role in strategic planning and project management. Primary responsibilities include international partnership development and management, external grant development and management, assessment of global engagement initiatives, and developing protocols for collecting and communicating data about existing international research, partnerships, and faculty and student mobility across the university. The Associate Director will also work with the Vice Provost and Directors to identify and pursue areas for expansion. These responsibilities require the Associate Director to work independently while also maintaining active and open communication with the Vice Provost, the Directors of Education Abroad, International Students and Scholars, the Center for Global Studies, and the English Language Center, and other Global Engagement Office staff.


    Unit Overview:
    The Global Engagement Office at the University of Wyoming envisions a university that engages, thrives and leads in an interconnected and interdependent global society. We seek to foster an inclusive global culture that encourages international exchange and collaboration, promotes curricular and extracurricular international experiences for all UW students, increases intercultural competence of faculty, staff, and students, and establishes a welcoming environment for international students, scholars and visitors. The Global Engagement Office is responsible for overseeing and promoting all aspects of the University of Wyoming's global footprint, including recruiting and supporting international students, cultivating semester, year-long and short-term study abroad and internship opportunities for graduate and undergraduate students, maintaining and expanding strategic partnerships with international universities, delivering English language and American culture support for the university's students and international community, and fostering international research opportunities for faculty and students.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Oversee management of existing agreements with international partner universities, including tracking renewal dates and activity of existing MOUs.
    • Develop and maintain internal protocols for partnership management and approvals.
    • Manage external vendors.
    • Work with colleges and departments to update, renew or cancel existing agreements.
    • Work with academic departments to build multi-faceted and interdisciplinary collaboration with existing partners.
    • Develop tools to guide academic units in the assessment and tracking of international projects, such as international project planning guides and checklists.
    • Prepare annual updates on the status of university partnerships.
    • Oversee communications about partnership activity including publications, web site, social media and newsletters.
    • Enhance the visibility of global partnerships through the website, social media, electronic communications, and other appropriate vehicles.
    • Identify grant opportunities through the U.S. State Department, international government granting schemes, and private sources.
    • Work with faculty, departments and colleges to prepare and submit grant applications.
    • Manage successful grants as well as internal research awards for faculty and students.
    • Implement data management processes to track UW's global footprint, including international research, student mobility, and current international students.
    • Generate reports on key metrics of global activity.
    • Develop protocols for making information about UW's global activity publicly accessible.
    • Support international rankings initiative.
    • Work with the Vice Provost and Director of the Center for Global Studies to identify areas for expansion of existing partnerships.
    • Work with the Vice Provost, the Director of the Center for Global Studies, colleges, departments, and faculty to identify opportunities for new partnerships based on geographic region, field of study, level of study etc.
    • Work with Assistant Director for International Students and Scholars to develop articulation agreements.
    • Work with academic units and Education Abroad to develop new student exchange and study abroad opportunities, including credit articulation.
    • Identify opportunities with international student sponsorship agencies.
    • Provide guidance to faculty and departments on UW's policies and best practices for international partnerships.
    • Work with academic units to develop international internship opportunities for students.
    • Assist Vice Provost with management of daily operations.
    • Assume responsibility for Global Engagement Office when Vice Provost is absent.
    • Assist with medium to long range planning.
    • Collaborate with Global Engagement Office Directors and staff to plan and implement projects and events.
    • Report and coordinate ongoing projects and work flow.
    • Develop and review policies and procedures in collaboration with Vice Provost.
    • Develop assessment protocols to track student mobility, student recruitment, partnerships, and international research activity.
    • Work with Directors of each unit to prepare annual assessment reports.

    SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:

    REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY:

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education: Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university

    Experience: 5 years related professional experience

    Other requirements:

    Valid driver's license with a motor vehicle record (MVR) compliant with the .

    Progressive experience in higher education with an emphasis in international affairs, administration,program development, or marketing
    Administration and financial management experience.
    3 or more years related managerial experience (project management, assessment and evaluation, strategicplanning).
    Experience with data collection and management.
    Experience working in international settings.
    Experience managing global partnerships including but not limited to higher education.
    Experience supporting grant programs in international education including budgeting and reporting.
    Ability to oversee program development and support academic and research components of global partnerships.
