    Summary:

    The Associate Director of Donor Experiences oversees donor stewardship work for donors at all levels to ensure a high-quality donor experience through appeals, personalized acknowledgements, impact reporting, donor recognition, and campus visits.

    Minimum Qualifications Required:

    Education required to ensure success in this position:
    • Bachelor’s degree.

    Experience required to ensure success in this position:
    • A minimum of five years of donor relations experience

    • Adaptable writing and editing skills; evidence of proficiency in grammar and the mechanics of professional writing

    • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills with the ability to work collegially and collaboratively in a team setting
    • Comfort level working with a diverse group of internal and external constituents, interacting with them professionally both over the phone and in person
    • Commitment to high performance, teamwork, accountability with strong work ethic and dedication to build a culture of high productivity and individual accountability
    • Ability to write for different audiences and in others’ voices
    • Experience in event planning and management
    • Respectful and protective of donor and student confidentiality
    • Ability to identify compelling and appropriate narratives
    • Evidence of successful project management and execution
    • Demonstrated ability to operate office equipment and full working knowledge of Microsoft Office, donor databases (ex. Banner), Foundation Directory and other online resources
    • Ability to operate independently while meeting metrics and deadlines

    License, certification, or registration necessary:
    • Valid Driver’s License
    • Required background checks

    Physical requirements:
    • Ability to work at a computer for extended periods of time
    • Ability to read, write and edit copy on a computer
    • Ability to communicate in person, by phone, by computer
    • Ability to maneuver around campus

    Environmental conditions:
    • Professional office environment with interruptions and noise due to frequent visitors, students, staff and faculty
    • Occasional events and activities (both indoor and outdoor) as designated.
    • Occasional travel required for meetings, conferences, etc.

    Ability to operate the following vehicles or equipment:
    • Standard office equipment: computer, fax, phone, etc.
    • Vehicle – college vans/cars

    Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

    Under the direction of the Executive Director of Donor Experiences and Services:

    • Oversee staff efforts to create multi-channel messaging that supports fundraising programs at Berea College. This includes creative services and content support for appeals, advertisements, donor reports, acknowledgments, campaign content, and stewardship communications. Lead efforts with confidence and execute with independence.
    • Manage all reporting efforts including creating high-impact endowed fund reports.
    • Plan and execute cultivation and stewardship opportunities.
    • Lead Berea College gift club communication efforts including executing an annual communications plan for lifetime and annual giving society members at $5,000 and above.
    • Create and maintain a set of dynamic templates for donor acknowledgement, recognition, and celebration.
    • Manage all donor recognition facets including named spaces, donor walls, and other recognition efforts.

    Other roles/duties will be assigned as necessary to assist the College in the attainment of the goals set forth and the enhancement of a positive, respectful learning environment for all staff, faculty and students.
