    Summary: Responsible for the ongoing supervision of three to four special educators and assigned teacher assistants/instructional aides as well as administrative and program oversight to ensure the attainment of goals and objectives as identified in IEPs for assigned students. 

    Primary Responsibilities: 

    • In cooperation with the Chief Education Officer, Director of Special Education, and other Guild staff, provide orientation, in-service training, modeling, and resources to teaching staff. 

    • Supervise, evaluate, and provide feedback to teachers and teacher assistants. 

    • Conduct IEP meetings and participate in other internal and external meetings as required to ensure that effective student programs are developed, implemented and evaluated including the dissemination of information necessary for effective coordination of student programs. 

    • Prepare internal and external written and verbal reports as necessary. 

    • Oversee and assist in compiling, summarizing and charting behavior data. 

    • Consult with Guild School staff specialists and other program consultants and incorporate their recommendations/suggestions as appropriate. 

    • Interact effectively with other people concerned with student placement/progress, such as referring agencies, parents, guardians, advocates and current and potential providers of continuing or supplementary/ancillary services. 

    • Assist in monitoring student workflow and work quality to ensure that agreed quantity, quality and delivery timelines are maintained. 

    • Assign and monitor staff in the performance of other non-teaching duties (e.g., breaks, lunches, transitions, attendance, community experiences, etc.). 

    • Participate in pre-service and ongoing in-service training and other mandatory staff meetings. 

    • Assist in securing, developing or adapting necessary educational, vocational and related materials. 

    • Recommend and/or participate in the development and implementation of specific communication and behavior management programs for selected assigned students. 

    • Perform other related duties as assigned. 

    Essential Functions 

    • Regular attendance at work is an essential function of the job including inclement weather situations. 

    • Demonstrated evidence of mature judgment, good interpersonal skills, a desire to enrich individuals' lives and a willingness to learn from skilled professionals. 

    • Physical and mental capacity to work in stressful situations and de-escalate individuals who have limited cognition and complex needs. 

    • Must be able to organize, plan, and prioritize activities with specific attention to higher level strategies while ensuring that details are also effectively addressed. 

    • Proficiency in written and spoken English is an essential function of the job. 

    • Pass Guild Driving test to access Guild vehicles for transportations of individuals. 

    • The ability to implement crisis intervention techniques as necessary, including Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (via certification through CPI) 

    • The ability to assist individuals in evacuation from the school. 

    Qualifications


    • Master’s degree in special education or equivalent degree. 

    • Five (5) years of experience teaching children/adolescents who have mental health diagnoses and/or developmental disabilities 

    • Must be Massachusetts State certified or eligible for certification in Mild/Moderate or Intensive Special Needs. 

    • Knowledge of and experience with special education law and processes 

    • Must meet Massachusetts Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) background check requirements. 

    • Ability to attend to numerous details and understand multiple regulatory standards. 

    • Excellent organization and time management skills 

    • Reliable transportation to Guild School in Concord, MA as well as to multiple Guild residences in Massachusetts 

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
