Associate Medical Director supports the implementation of medical policies for the entire organization. Ensures the delivery of quality patient care. Being an Associate Medical Director researches and evaluates new treatments and medical innovations. Works collaboratively throughout the organization to ensure the adoption of standards and policies for all functional aspects of clinical services that result in patient care improvements. Additionally, Associate Medical Director requires a MD degree. Typically reports to Medical Director. The Associate Medical Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be an Associate Medical Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.     The Clinical Operations Associate Medical Director responsible for supporting the medical management staff ensuring timely and consistent medical decisions to members and providers.

    How you will make an impact:

    • Ensures timely completion of clinical case reviews for their board certified specialty.
    • Makes physician to physician calls to gather medical appropriate information in order to make medical necessity determinations for services requested.
    • Makes medical necessity determinations for grievance and appeals appropriate for their specialty.
    • Ensures consistent use of medical policies when making medical necessity decisions.
    • Brings to their supervisors attention, any case review decisions that require Medical Director review or policy interpretation.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Requires an MD and Board certification in a medical specialty required.

    Preferred Experiences, Capabilities, and Skills:

    • 3 years post residency or fellowship clinical expereince strongly preferred.
    • Familiar with Outlook, Microsoft Teams and Microsoft Office Suite products strongly preferred.

    For candidates working in person or remotely in the below locations, the salary* range for this specific position is $158,724 to $285,692.
