Associate Medical Director supports the implementation of medical policies for the entire organization. Ensures the delivery of quality patient care. Being an Associate Medical Director researches and evaluates new treatments and medical innovations. Works collaboratively throughout the organization to ensure the adoption of standards and policies for all functional aspects of clinical services that result in patient care improvements. Additionally, Associate Medical Director requires a MD degree. Typically reports to Medical Director. The Associate Medical Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be an Associate Medical Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.     Central Coast Pet Emergency is seeking an experienced Veterinarian interested in coming onboard to lead our team as a Medical Director!


    What we’re offering:

    • Up to 25% production! Our full-time doctors can expect a total annual pay upwards of $250,000 or more, including production! 
    • 4 week sabbatical for every 5 years of service.

    • MDVM annual leadership bonus as well as additional bonus incentives tied to hospital performance.
    • Fully equipped practice: new flexible endoscope, new digital radiography, a high-quality ultrasound, in-house lab analyzers, two oxygen cages, and paper-lite records (EzyVet and SmartFlow). If you want equipment or meds we don’t have, we’re flexible about acquiring it!
    • Paid vacation, paid CE, CE allowance, medical/dental/vision, 401k, all the good stuff! We are also flexible for “extra benefits” such as gym membership, car wash, etc.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Advancing Medical Care

    • Oversees surgical and medical cases for all doctors, ensuring positive outcomes, accurate estimates, and client communication and education
    • Answers client questions and concerns regarding medical and surgical procedures
    • Provides oversight and direction of medical standards, quality of care and inventory
    • Establishes medical protocols
    • Oversees transfer of medical cases from doctor to doctor
    • Minimizes waste and controls costs relating to medical supplies, surgical instruments, and drug inventories

    Leading Staff and Practice

    • Participates in the recruiting and interviewing process for doctors, and when appropriate general staff members
    • Monitors doctor performance and production
    • Develops and monitors hospital-specific client compliance protocols and procedures
    • Participates in technician appraisal and medical counseling sessions
    • Ensures all medical staff receive applicable training, including the mentoring of new graduates
    • Supports the Hospital Manager with staff training programs and tracking CE and DVM/VMD licensure

    Financial Responsibilities

    • Drives revenue and hospital contribution growth, which includes managing all hospital expenses
    • Assists in the preparation of an annual planning strategy, operating budget and capital budget
    • Monitors key financial reports

    Growing the Practice

    • Drives patient visits and encourages community involvement
    • Embraces change and supports innovative programs within the hospital
    • Monitors client service, marketing, and NVA growth initiatives
    • Seeks out ways to innovate operational practices that improve the growth of the practice
