Youth and Family Pastor (YFP)

Status: Part-Time, Exempt, Salaried at 25 hours/week

About the Role

The role of the YFP is to foster the discipleship of young people in the Christian faith. He or she will help cultivate spiritual growth and equip young people to serve Christ. The YFP also serves as the Director of the Youth Discipleship Team, which oversees Christian education and NHCC activities related to children and students, ages 0-23 years.

Education Requirements

Applicable experience or degree preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities, Tasks, and Expectations

While an employee at NHCC, the YFP will:

• Cultivate a healthy, growing student ministry that reflects the quality characteristics of a healthy church.
• Plan and execute gatherings that are Biblical, engaging, and enjoyable to students.
• Create and manage a student ministry calendar that drives events, activities, and teaching within the ministry. This is collaborative with other ministries and volunteers at NHCC.
• Integrate NHCC’s mission and vision into student ministry goals and activities.
• Educate, encourage, and facilitate student participation in NHCC’s Discipleship Pathway.
• Be an active presence in local middle and high schools.
• Cast vision for, teach, and plan retreats and camps with music, messages, games, and activities that inspire students to trust and follow Jesus.
• Assist in developing the annual student ministry budget and oversee responsible stewardship of the budget.
• Recruit, develop, and support student ministry volunteers.
• Serve as a member of the pastoral staff by taking part in regular Staff Meetings and attending other meetings, as needed.
• Perform and/or take part in baptism services, funerals, etc. as related to student needs.
• Maintain contact with students and parents to keep them informed of events and activities.
• Execute a ministry strategy to keep students engaged and involved, including family commitment and involvement.
• Collaborate with volunteers and the Senior Pastor to support parents and others in effectively fulfilling their Christian roles and duties.
• Demonstrate a Christ-like character and attitude through all interactions.
• Adhere to all NHCC policies and guidelines.
• Keep all confidentiality.
• Assist in other duties as directed by the Senior Pastor.

Requirements

The YFP will:

• Have the ability to teach and counsel students in theology, scripture, and spiritual formation.
• Develop and empower students and volunteers to love God, love others, grow in their faith, and serve Christ.
• Demonstrate technological abilities and proficiency with Microsoft Office, and with other software as needed by the ministry.
• Attend scheduled gatherings of NHCC students, attend Sunday worship services, and attend NHCC events.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $25,000.00 per year

Expected hours: 25 per week

Ability to Relocate:

• Newburgh, IN 47630: Relocate before starting work (Required)
