Associate Pastor of Youth and Discipleship

Alpine Baptist Church – Comstock Park, MI

Overview:

• Position: Full Time

• Role: Elder/Pastor

• Title: Associate Pastor of Youth and Discipleship

• Direct Report: Lead Pastor

• Must agree with the church constitution and articles of faith.

Spiritual Requirements:

• Healthy personal walk with Christ (Colossians 3, Ephesians 4-5, 1 Timothy 4:6-10)

• Loving the Word of God and prayer (2 Timothy 3:14-16, Psalm 19, Psalm 119, Philippians 4:6-7, 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)

• Meet the qualifications for a pastor (1 Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9)

• Have a shepherd’s heart: Loving in ministry (1 Corinthians 13, Philippians 2), Leading well (1 Timothy 4:6-5:2), Exemplifying godly wisdom (James 3:13-18), and Exemplifying humility (Philippians 2:1-8)

Primary Gifting:

• Proven ability and desire to teach and preach God’s Word (1 Timothy 3:1-2, 5:17).

• Proven ability and desire to make disciples (Matthew 28:19-20, 2 Timothy 2:2).

• Proven ability and desire to disciple children, youth, and adults.

• Proven ability and desire to lead others well.

• Proven ability and desire to administrate as needed.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Overseeing the discipleship ministries of children and youth. (Individual discipleship, group discipleship, assisting families in discipleship, teaching the Bible, missions/work trips, weekly activities, special events, etc.)

• Developing and training leaders and teachers of the children and youth ministries.

• Teaching and/or preaching weekly. (Youth group and/or a Sunday service.)

• Assisting in other ministries of the church as needed.

• Administration as needed.

Secondary Responsibilities:

• Assisting in the planning and implementation of outreach.

• Assisting in the music ministries of the church as needed (if gifted to).

• Assisting in the visitation ministry of the church as needed.

• Assisting in the welcome ministry of the church as needed.

• Assisting in the oversight of various ministries of the church as needed.

• Other duties as assigned by the lead pastor.

Summary:

Alpine Baptist Church is looking to hire an associate pastor to oversee the ministries of youth, children, and discipleship. Our desire is to hire a man with a pastoral heart and a love for discipling believers from God’s Word. This person should have the ability and desire to train up leaders, teach faithfully from the Bible, lead individuals toward spiritual growth, a love for the body of Christ, and a faithful personal walk with the Lord. Because this is a pastoral role, this individual should have pastoral calling, pastoral heart for ministry, a love to teach the Bible, and a flexibility to shepherd the church as needed.

• Assisting the Lead Pastor as a partner in ministry.

• Developing healthy relationships with other pastors, deacons, and ministry leaders.

• A commitment to resolve all interpersonal conflict quickly and biblically.

• Leading by example by faithfully giving to the church and church projects.

• Leading by example by pursuing spiritual disciplines to a deeper relationship with the Lord.

• Shepherding believers to know God more deeply.

• Leading by example by actively participating in church activities.

• Attending monthly deacon’s meeting.

• Attending staff meetings.

• Open communication with the Lead Pastor.

• Work as a team with the other staff of Alpine Baptist Church.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $35,000.00 - $43,000.00 per year
