Associate Registrar manages one or multiple segments of the registrations and records programs. Has responsibilities of registration, classroom assignment, commencement, and maintenance of student records. Being an Associate Registrar typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a Registrar. The Associate Registrar supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. Thorough knowledge of department processes.   • Chautauqua's community education programs — Special Studies and the Online Classroom — offer classes for all ages in a variety of subjects, including art, music, business, computers, culinary, handcrafts, history, photography, music, and theater. Community education staff assist with class facilitation and student registration, ensuring high quality learning experiences throughout the summer assembly season.

    About Your Compensation  
     Compensation for this position starts at $15.00/Hour and, with demonstrated experience and qualifications, candidates may earn up to $18.00/Hour.  

    About Your Work Day 

    • Provides daily leadership to Special Studies staff to meet guest experience expectations.
    • Supervises performance of Special Studies office staff, Special Studies Turner building staff, and Special Studies monitors.
    • Oversees all types of order processing to ensure timely and accurate fulfillment.
    • Assigns schedules and manages class duties of Special Studies monitors.
    • Assumes registration clerk responsibilities as necessary.
    • Serves as a resource to the team, including being the person employee issues are escalated to.
    • Maintains inventory of office supplies, classroom supplies and equipment.
    • Ensures that account files are properly maintained.
    • Able to make good decisions using independent judgment.
    • Ensures that policies and procedures are followed to protect guest privacy.
    • Responsible for timely and accurate cash drawer maintenance and cash deposits.
    • Responsible for timely and accurate payroll reporting for Special Studies instructors.
    • Serves as ambassador for Chautauqua Institution.
    • All other tasks as assigned.

     About the Referral Program

    Chautauqua Institution’s Referral Bonus Program is a talent solution to recruit, develop, and retain a diverse workforce that encompasses all the skills and experience necessary to deliver on our goals and objectives. Chautauqua Institution will provide a $250 referral bonus (less taxes) for active employees referring a new candidate who is hired and remains employed for at least 90-days from the first physical date of work. In the case of seasonal positions working less than 6-months, the new candidate must remain actively employed for at least 30-days from the first physical date of work and until the closing date of the season. The closing date of the season is the last Sunday in August. 

    About Your Schedule 

    Chautauqua Institution and Chautauqua Hotel Company offer flexible schedules, full and part-time, for seasonal employment during summer operations starting annually each June and concluding in August.  Seasonal employment may be available earlier (pre-season) and beyond season (post-season) based on business needs and candidate availability.  Schedules typically include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays as a requirement.  While you will confirm your final schedule with management at the time of an interview and offer of employment, you should generally anticipate the following schedule options for this position: 

    In-Season:  Will be scheduled to work Sundays 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. plus weekdays from 7:45 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for an average of 35-hours/week.  Scheduled hours may include holidays based on business needs.

    Pre-Season:  Will begin work starting in mid-May, for an average of 35-hours/week.  

    About Living on the Grounds 

    Chautauqua Institution may provide limited housing options on our grounds or assist you with locating nearby housing arrangements for select opportunities based on business needs.  Housing is not an option for many positions and may be of a cost to you.  Candidates should assume there are no employer-provided or employer-assisted housing options available for this position unless it is otherwise stated.
