The Accounting Assistant III is an accounting position that ensures timely, accurate and consistent recording of dealership transactions.  This includes preparing month end financial statements and reports in accordance with Kocourek Automotive guidelines.  This position serves as a path to becoming an Accounting Manager.  Expertise required in many areas – financial statements, financial analysis, sales tax, DMS title work, and dealership rules and regulations.  Individual must be able to perform at a high level with minimal supervision.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties as assigned.

• Ensure that assigned general ledger and scheduled accounts are maintained in an orderly, current and accurate condition at all times.  All discrepancies and unusual entries are timely followed up on and resolved.
• Performs month end process for minimum of two entities in accordance with Company month end process guidelines. Ensures that financial statements are accurate and completed by the 3rd business day. 
• Performs daily bank reconciliations and daily contract in transit reports for review.  Handles floor plan payoffs in accordance with lender guidelines.  Monitors cash flow needs and communicates with Office Manager any issues.
• Prepares weekly cash flow reports and turns in to Office Manager by 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday.
• Prepares weekly Top 10 reports and turns in to Office Manager by 9;00 a.m. on Thursday.
• Knowledgeable on weekly and semi-monthly payroll and serves as a backup for payroll processing. 
• Prepares monthly sales tax returns
• Handles special projects and tasks that require independent judgement and expertise.
• Assists and trains other office team members as needed
• Works closely with department managers
• Communicate with management issues as they arise
• Serves as backup for all Accounting Assistant II responsibilities.
• Other backup duties – payroll and quarterly payroll tax returns, other tasks for non-Wausau dealerships.

Other Duties

• Handles accounting for other entities if assigned – body shop and buy-here pay-here operation.
• Maintain a clean and organized office environment
• Other duties as assigned by Accounting Manager
