    The CPA is responsible for assisting business owners and individuals in maintaining and improving their financial health and reporting procedures. Their duties include meeting with clients to discuss their current practices and financial needs, reviewing financial statements and tax forms to check for errors and performing audits to ensure compliance with tax organizations. The CPA conducts an in-depth interview with clients to obtain all required information and materials to complete the tax return. This individual will establish rapport with clients to build working relationships and increase retention. All tax returns are prepared utilizing the information provided by the clients and are keyed into tax software.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Communicate with client and firm associate requests in a timely, accurate, positive and professional manner
    • Understand and effectively use current tax and accounting software applications
    • Utilize Quickbooks for recording transactions, compiling and analyzing data, creating financial reports, assisting with budgets and financial forecasting, computing taxes, and reporting their findings to management and other entities.
    • Prepare tax schedules, returns, payments, reports and maintain company’s tax database for corporations, partnerships, estates, not-for-profits, and individuals
    • Find tax solutions to complicated tax issues or errors from incorrect tax filings
    • Identify legal tax savings and recommend ways to improve profits
    • Make sure that clients comply with federal, state and local tax regulations
    • Advise management about the impact of tax liabilities and corporate strategies or new tax laws
    • Coordinate outsourced tax preparation work
    • Accurately prepare quarterly and annual tax reports
    • Keep up-to-date with tax changes and industry trends by participating in educational opportunities, participating in professional organizations, keeping up with professional networks and reading professional publications
    • Establish and maintain effective client relationships through regular communications, including on-site visits
    • Gain cross training and proficiency in other duties to assist staff with clients
    • Performs other related duties as assigned

    Skills and Abilities:

    • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
    • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.

    Education and Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required
    • Current CPA required
    • 5 or more years of income tax return preparation experience in public accounting
    • Experience with Drake tax software is a plus
    • 5 or more years experience with QuickBooks software required

    Physical Requirements:

    • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
    • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
