In the frame of continued improvement of its processes and practices, SITA is exploring adoption of various approaches to improve its Architecture processes and Frameworks. As part of this exploration, the Design Innovation and Architecture (part of SITA For Aircraft Engineering) team is responsible for updating the guidelines to support this evolution. The internship will focus on exploration of a few elements around practices related to Infrastructure and Platforms as well as their management. The intern will be invited to contribute to the trade-offs on the various options, an activity performed in tandem with an experienced Architect.
SITA For Aircraft is providing SaaS services to airlines, on Private and Public cloud, leveraging microservices deployed in Kubernetes clusters.
Infrastructure provisioning, depending on the product/infrastructure, is sometimes provisioned/setup/managed manually, or using IaC (Infrastructure as code) tools (Terraform, Puppet, Ansible).
The activity would consist in studying and benchmarking a solution (design and set of tools) to provision and manage multi region application services.
Tools to be considered are Terraform, Ansible, Helm/Kubernetes. The Study will initially focus on Azure Public Cloud, and will include infrastructure but also setting up blue/green deployment approach.
Capture and familiarize with current practices
Set up Terraform/Ansible in Azure sandbox, then extend to 2 regions
Study/experiment blue/green deployment approach with test K8S application
