Civil Engineering Technician – EIT

Schedule: Full-Time

Location: South Jordan, UT

Our Site Design Civil Engineering team is expanding and we’re seeking a design and drafting engineer to join our team. The position will include working with experienced professional engineers for roadways, grading, drainage, utility and site development projects for residential, industrial and commercial development, including local government and K-12 schools, and higher education.

Position Overview

As an Civil Engineer EIT at Meridian Engineering, you will embark on an exciting and rewarding career in civil engineering. You will work on a diverse range of projects, encompassing land development, transportation engineering, utility and site development, and construction management. Under the guidance and mentorship of our experienced engineers, you will develop your technical skills and knowledge while contributing to the planning, design, and execution of innovative and sustainable infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation of engineering plans, specifications, and reports for various projects.
• Perform design calculations and analyses under the guidance of senior engineers.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including project managers, engineers, and surveyors.
• Participate in field investigations, data collection, and site inspections.
• Conduct research on applicable codes, regulations, and industry best practices.
• Support project coordination, communication, and documentation.
• Utilize engineering software, such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, or similar design tools.
• Continuously develop technical skills and knowledge through mentorship and training opportunities
• Contribute to innovative design solutions and sustainable engineering practices.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university or college.
• Passed Fundamentals of Engineering Exam (Preferred)
• Excellent written, verbal, and communication skills for effective collaboration and information sharing
• Ability to work both independently and within a team-oriented environment, adapting to various project dynamics.
• Proficient with engineering software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ensuring efficient and accurate design work.
• Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel, demonstrating strong skills in essential office software for efficient document creation and data management.
• Must pass a drug test and have a valid driver’s license
• Civil engineering experience with commercial, municipal and/or park projects is a plus.
• Familiarity with APWA engineering standards is a plus
• Demonstrate ability to complete tasks accurately, on-time and within budget
• Preference given to local candidates and / or veterans
