THE POSITION

This position focuses on the Naples Airport Authority (NAA) noise abatement initiatives and functions as a member of the communications/community relations team. The role involves communicating with the public regarding aircraft noise concerns; promoting noise abatement procedures among all airport users; and working with an established committee to enhance the airport noise program. Additionally, this position is an essential part of the development of the communications team to reach the department’s strategic goals. 

 Some of the position duties include: 

• Develops, executes, and promotes internal and external communications and stakeholder outreach programs as a representative of the community relations department. 
• Receives and analyzes public noise comments promptly and responds via telephone, written correspondence, or other action if required. Collaborates to investigate and resolve issues. May refer calls to specific noise committee members or to executive management.
• Maintains accurate and thorough technical and administrative records pertaining to the airport’s various noise studies and programs, which includes logging NAA’s response to comments. 
• This position will require attendance at public meetings and community events after normal working hours. The employee must exercise considerable initiative and independent judgment in accomplishing work assignments and have exceptional communication skills.
• Supports the overall function of the community relations department including airport tours, community events, conferences, and various other duties. 

REQUIREMENTS

• Must have excellent communication skills and customer service skills. Must have ability to patiently and compassionately listen to citizens while maintaining appropriate boundaries. Must have current knowledge of communication practices including excellent writing and editing skills, strong verbal and presentation skills, proficiency in the principles and practices of journalism, media relations and/or public relations. 
• Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university in aviation management, planning, business or public administration, marketing, communications, journalism or other appropriate field, and a minimum of two years of closely related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of closely related training, education and experience.
• At least one year of related aviation or customer service and communications experience.
