K-12 Technology - Computer Science Teacher

Job Purpose Statement:
The Mitchell School District is searching for a K-12 Technology instructor for the 2022-2023 school year. Preferably, the successful candidate will teach robotics, coding, design (for use with 3d printing and/or with cnc outputs), and basic computer/software skills. This position is being developed as a part of a new program as a result of community input with resources from the Mitchell School Student Investment Account (SIA) grant funds with resources available to purchase new equipment. Our student body is very small and we have an excellent climate and culture.
Job Qualifications: Education and Experience:
- BA/BS or higher degree (required) with a major in one or more of the following areas: Curriculum, Secondary Education, Content Area (Math, Science, Language Arts, Social Studies, Economics, Geography, Biology, Physics, Reading, or similar).
- Valid Oregon Teaching License and endorsement(s) from the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission in the State of Oregon; and displays a willingness to teach any qualified subject area.
- Must hold a current recognized first aid card or be willing to obtain same if directed by the district under ORS 342.664 (2).
- Skills to motivate students, communicate with individuals from varied educational and cultural backgrounds, direct support personnel, evaluate performance.
- Knowledge of age appropriate teaching methods, state curriculum framework, education code, appropriate instructional subjects.
Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing Required:
- Valid Oregon Teaching License – Content Subject Endorsed
- Endorsed in areas of assigned teaching: High School Language Arts, Math, Advanced Math, Physics, Chemistry, Biology Social Studies, Science, World Languages, Physical Education, Ag Science, CTE eligible.
- Holds and maintains an appropriate license and endorsement(s) from the Teacher Standards and Practices Commission in the State of Oregon; and displays a willingness to teach any qualified subject area.
- Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance
- Valid Driver’s License and evidence of insurability
- Successfully pass district background screening
