    Job Description:

    Bellarmine University invites applications for a tenure-track, Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science (Division of Mathematics and Computer Science) starting August 15, 2024. This is a 12 month position. We are a growing department committed to building and maintaining a diverse and inclusive major. We're looking for applicants that will help us further that mission.

    Our new faculty member will begin teaching multiple sections of lower-level courses in computer science and data science including CS 130- Programming Fundamentals, CS 131-The Object-Oriented Paradigm, CS 1- Programming for the Liberal Arts, CS215-Data Structures, and at least one upper-level course per semester for the first year. Our department delivers courses in multiple modalities including face-to-face, online, and hybrid. In addition, our new faculty member will assist developing a new online Master of Arts in Software Engineering program and related online courses over the next three or four years.

    Applicants will be expected to establish an active research program, ideally with undergraduates, which supports the University's commitment to student success and inclusive engagement. We prefer candidates interested in research in cybersecurity or research that focuses on underrepresented minorities and marginalized groups in computer engineering, computer science or software engineering. However, a broad variety of research interests will be considered.

    Candidates also will be expected to participate in department, college (A&S), and university service, including assisting the division chair with community outreach to local high schools to recruit students to CS Department's various programs. Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications.

    Bellarmine is a strong teaching institution; applicants should have experience in, or be prepared for, teaching a wide variety of undergraduate, ACM curriculum-based CS courses including, but not limited to basic programming, data structures, operating systems, computer networks, software engineering, algorithms, machine learning, compilers, and databases. The Division of Mathematics and Computer Science also houses the BS in Data Science at Bellarmine University. The Data Science program is a collaboration between mathematics, computer science and the business administration departments.     Requirements:

    Qualified candidates must have a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, or related field by August 2024 and must exhibit a strong commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion in teaching undergraduate computer science courses.
