    JOB DESCRIPTION

    NY Enrichment Group is seeking several reliable, self-motivated, independent, fun-loving, youth Drama and Theater Instructors to join our team. The successful instructor, ensures that lessons remain fun and engaging, while facilitating in-person cooking classes. Each class will be customized to fit the needs, goals, and interest of the students. The instructor must have experience teaching drama/theater, be enthusiastic and exhibit a high degree of professionalism, a strong commitment to the communities we serve, and demonstrate the ability to motivate and educate. We are seeking a passionate, motivated, and creative professional who truly enjoys enriching the lives of children.

    Duties include:

    • Leading drama/theater classes for youth aged 5-18 years old (including students with disabilities)
    • Creating curriculum & lesson plans for each session.
    • Facilitating classes that follow a social group work model
    • Responsible for managing a classroom of 15-20 students (including students with disabilities)
    • Prep for classes: arriving 15 minutes to set up and prepare to start class on time.
    • Clean up: must leave locations in condition found, or cleaner.
    • Build and maintain positive relationships with staff, parents, and scholars.
    • Follow up after classes with NYEG Director of Operations.
    • Maintain a positive, healthy, safe, supportive and welcoming environment.

    COVID vaccination REQUIRED.

    Requirements:

    • Candidate must have experience teaching drama/theater.
    • Candidate should be highly responsible, reliable, punctual, flexible, outspoken, honest, self-motivated, and work with integrity. This is an independent role, with little direct supervision.
    • Candidate should be comfortable working with children, and comfortable working independently leading a class of students. Candidate should be a clear communicator, have a positive attitude, and be able to effectively manage a classroom.
    • Relevant performance experience

    Preferred but not necessary:

    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
    • At least 2 years experience working with youth
    • Teaching experience and classroom management skills
    • A knowledge of, and willingness to teach drama to youth
