Provides didactic, laboratory, and/or clinical instruction and supervision of students consistent with established standards of care. Provides leadership and assistance to faculty and students in designated course(s) and with nursing education pedagogy. Assists with program planning, development, implementation, evaluation, and revision. Additional responsibilities include the assistance with maintenance of program accreditation.

Responsibilities
Teaching and Professionalism
- Provides didactic, laboratory, and/or clinical instruction for students as assigned.
- Selects course materials, instructional aids, and learning experiences.
- Utilizes a variety of instructional strategies in didactic, laboratory, and clinical teaching.
- Monitor student performance and provides assistance when needed.
- Update course materials on an ongoing basis.
- Maintains student competencies, evaluations, and records.
- Assists with academic and personal advising/counseling of students as needed.
- Maintains clinical competency.
- Provides coordination and oversight of clinical faculty in designated course(s)
- Works effectively with meeting deadlines.
- Communicates appropriately and professionally when working with the students, faculty, staff, and other stakeholders.
- Attendance at department, college, and assigned committee meetings.
- Participates in assessment of student learning and college effectiveness.
- Participates in program assessment, implementation, evaluation, and revision to assure program effectiveness, quality, and congruence with college and program accreditation standards and goals.
- Maintains knowledge of program policies and procedures.
- Demonstrates a positive attitude and professional role modeling behavior.
Scholarship
- Participates in scholarly activities (see Guideline 7 of College Resource Manual for examples).
- Participates in community service.
Service

Basic UPH Performance Criteria

- Practices and reflects knowledge of HIPAA, TJC, DNV, OSHA and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding
- Practices and reflects knowledge of FERPA and HLC and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding higher education.
- Completes all annual education and competency requirements within the calendar
- Is knowledgeable of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse. Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of hospital administrative staff. Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance.

Education: | Master’s Degree in Nursing One of the following: - CNE credential and at least 15 credit hours towards a doctorate or
- Completed all requirements for a doctoral degree except for the dissertation.

Experience: | 2 years in clinical nursing experience 4 years nursing education experience *4 years of leadership or administrative functions at the department chair level or above *Prior to 2015: 10 years of experience in nursing education | Three years in nursing education as Assistant Professor. |
License(s)/Certification(s): | - Current Licensure as a registered nurse in Iowa. Individuals are currently licensed when licensed in another state and recognized for licensure in Iowa, pursuant to the nurse licensure compact contained in Iowa code section 152E.1
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain certification within three months from date of hire.
- Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.
