  • Duties and Responsibilities

    • Teach two 3-credit courses per semester, a combination of undergraduate and graduate classes.
    • Serve on reviews and thesis and dissertation committees for graduate students.
    • Mentor and educate undergraduate and graduate students who represent a diverse demographic.
    • Research and publish, contributing to the field of art and visual culture education at the national and international levels.
    • Collaborate effectively with colleagues of various backgrounds and disciplines.
    • Contribute to faculty governance and service at the program, school, college, university, and professional levels.
    • Participate in outreach, student advising, recruitment, and other activities that enhance student engagement, increase diversity, and expand collaborations with community partner.

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

    • Ability to develop and teach courses in justice-oriented undergraduate, pre-service art teacher education.
    • Ability to develop and teach graduate-level courses in art and visual culture education.
    • Demonstrated ability to develop and teach curricula in a manner that is resonant and responsive to individual and sociocultural differences among students.
    • Knowledge of current theory, research methodology, and practice in the field of art and visual culture education.
    • Knowledge of contemporary research and issues in art and visual culture education in PK-12 schools and informal learning environments.
    • Interest in contributing to the university’s General Education curriculum and/or online platforms for instructional delivery.
    • Evidence of potential for a coherent and robust research program relevant to community-based art education, PK-12 art teacher development, or school and community partnerships.
    • Secondary interest in arts-based research, material processes, and/or creative practices.
    • Track record or demonstrated potential of public engagement, partnership-building, or outreach with diverse communities and/or schools.
