    CDI Engineering Solutions is a multi-disciplinary engineering organization offering a full range of integrated engineering design, project support, procurement and construction management services to the energy and chemicals industries.

    Position Summary

    Hybrid or Remote position

     

    Performs assignments, which require the application of engineering education, training or experience and special knowledge or judgment of the mathematical, physical, or engineering sciences.  Assignments are designed to further develop the incumbent’s job knowledge and abilities.  Applies engineering principles in discipline of competency, as assigned by supervisor with little direction. Demonstrates a continuing consciousness of safety in daily activities.  Analyzes and assists other lower-level engineers with designs as needed.  Analyzes complex design problems requiring the development of new or improved techniques or procedures.  Keeps supervisor informed of progress. 

    Responsibilities

    Prepares advanced and complex specifications detailing performance requirements, specific components, design requirements, applicable design codes, and vendor drawing requirements. 

    Visits vendor facilities to inspect equipment for compliance with requirements.  Visits jobsites to evaluate site, project requirements, and conditions.  Develops a focus on least cost, safe design.  Supports field assignments as required.   

    Mentors less experienced engineers, designers, and drafters.  Supervises design personnel and other staff specialists. 

    Participates in sales presentations.  Prepares inquiry and purchase requisitions.  Prepares bid tabulations on simple purchases.  Reviews vendor drawings for major components.  Ensures that project schedule and budget of assigned projects are maintained. 

    Meets company quality assurance requirements. 

    Must be able to perform tasks of the lower classification.

    ***MUST have a valid Louisiana P.E. or the ability to obtain quickly ***

     

    Required:  16-20 years of experience related to Electrical Distribution.  Engineer in Training (EIT) required.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear.  The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit; climb, balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision depth perception, and ability to focus.  Employee must be able to climb ladders as typically found in petrochemical facilities.  

     

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee may periodically be required to travel to client jobsites, usually involving heavy industrial (chemical) production facilities and access all areas of the facility. Therefore, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; and the risk of electric shock.   The noise level in workplace can be loud to moderate depending on assignment.  Respirator fit testing may be required. 

    Education Requirements

    Required: BS in Engineering (or higher) from ABET accredited Institution 

    Preferred: Master's degree or higher
