    The Electrical Engineering Department in the College of Engineering at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo invites applications for the 2024-2025 academic year, tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level or Associate Professor level in Electrical Engineering. The position will start in Fall 2024.

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: (a) teaching undergraduate classes and laboratories in electrical engineering in general as well as graduate courses in an area of specialization. The ability to teach courses in more than one sub-specialty is preferred; (b) supervising undergraduate and graduate-level research; (c) developing and maintaining externally-funded research programs; (d) collaborating with other faculty on curricular, research and professional development interests; (e) engaging in activities related to service in the form of student club advising, curriculum development, and shared governance.

    Candidates with demonstrated experience in any the following technical areas are encouraged to apply:
    •Digital, Analog, and Mixed-Signal Electronics
    •VLSI and Digital Electronics
    •Cyber-Physical Systems including Control Systems and Robotics 

    Salary commensurate with education and experience of the individual selected. Anticipated Assistant Professor hiring range: $100,000– $112,000 per year; Associate Professor hiring range: $109,000– $122,000.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or closely related field by the time of appointment and are expected to demonstrate a commitment to, or potential for, teaching excellence and scholarly activity at the university level.

    Candidates must have expertise in one of the desired fields and demonstrate this through peer reviewed publications in journals and/or conferences. Cal Poly is committed to the teacher-scholar model. As teachers, all faculty members are expected to exhibit strong pedagogic skills and to remain proficient and current in their disciplines. As scholars, faculty members are expected to maintain competency in their field and enhance the vitality of our programs through undergraduate and master’s level research.     An ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with students, faculty, staff, and administration from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds is essential.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    Preference will be given to candidates with:

    Demonstrated excellence in university level teaching and research, experience with laboratory-based instruction, and willingness to teach in multiple areas of the undergraduate and graduate curriculum. The candidate is expected to be driven with a passion for teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as be engaged in scholarship. Prior engineering industry experience and professional licensure is preferable, but not required.

    Evidence of working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive and inclusive environment.

    SPECIAL CONDITIONS

    The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.
