SUNY Niagara has a vacancy for a full-time, 10-month, tenure-track English instructor position. This position is contained in the Division of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. The selected candidate will be responsible for teaching in a variety of settings, and for advising students throughout the academic year. Courses to teach will include all courses in our Composition sequence, and may also include Literature, Creative Writing, Journalism, and Developmental Writing. Courses are taught in-person and online. Assignments are typically during the day, but may also be during evening hours. These classes are held at SUNY Niagara’s main campus located in Sanborn, NY, but future assignments may include classes at the Niagara Falls Culinary Institute.
The start date of this position will be August 29, 2024, for the beginning of the Fall 2024 semester. The successful candidate will be required to work 162 days per academic year (August – May), and will be provided with a winter break from mid-December to early January, a Spring Break for one week in mid-March, and will work until the Spring semester ends in Mid-May. Faculty are not required to work in June, July, and most of August, but opportunities for teaching Summer classes exist.
In addition to the base salary, there is the potential for overload and other assignments, which would increase the base salary. There is also a pathway for promotion to higher level salary positions (Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Professor).
