Montana Technological University provides a comprehensive benefits package for all eligible positions that includes health, dental and vision insurance, mandatory retirement plan with employer contribution, partial tuition waiver, and a wellness program.

Montana Technological University invites applicants for a tenure-track faculty position in the Department of Geological Engineering. The department (https://www.mtech.edu/geological-engineering/index.html) is one of the founding departments in what was once the Montana School of Mines in Butte, Montana, a small city with great historical and geological significance in the mountains of western Montana.
The department houses an ABET-accredited bachelor’s degree program in geological engineering, including an undergraduate option in geophysics, as well as a physics program that serves the entire campus through undergraduate physics instruction. The department also offers master’s degrees in Geological Engineering and Geosciences (with options in engineering geology, geology, geophysics, and hydrogeology), and a doctoral degree in Earth Sciences and Engineering. Typical undergraduate and graduate enrollments are around 40 and 20 students, respectively.
We are seeking a dynamic student-oriented individual with a desire to engage undergraduate and graduate students in hands-on learning and research. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the physics program by teaching multiple lower-division physics courses and possibly upper-level or graduate courses in the candidate’s specialty. The successful candidate will also be responsible for maintaining laboratory equipment used in physics and geophysics instruction and research, specifically seismic geophysics equipment.
The ideal candidate would have a PhD in physics, geophysics, engineering, or a related field, with expertise in seismic geophysics and/or earthquake engineering. The individual would have a commitment to excellent teaching at all levels, with the ability to build a strong research program capable of securing external funding and interest in providing significant service to the campus and the profession. Available within the department are equipment and software for geophysical research, a small fleet of research UAVs, and a state-of-the-art earthquake shake table. Many opportunities exist for developing research programs in collaboration with other members of the department and related departments on campus, such as Mining, Metallurgical, Civil, Environmental, and Petroleum Engineering, Chemistry and Geochemistry, and the Montana Bureau of Mines and Geology (the state geological survey).

Helena (/ˈhɛlɪnə/) is the state capital of the U.S. state of Montana and the county seat of Lewis and Clark County. Helena was founded as a gold camp during the Montana gold rush, and was established in 1864. Over $3.6 billion of gold was extracted in the city limits over a duration of two decades, making it one of the wealthiest cities in the United States by the late nineteenth century. The concentration of wealth contributed to the city's prominent, elaborate Victorian architecture. At the 2010 census Helena's population was 28,190, making it the fifth least populous state capital in the Un...
