POSITION SUMMARY

Academic Support Center goal is to prepare CNI College students for competencies in English and help them prepare for college-level English skill. Instruct and tutor individual students or small groups of students in academic subjects of English to ensure that students have college level competencies in subject-area.

DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS

• Prepare students for college level English competencies.
• Provide feedback to students, using positive reinforcement techniques to encourage, motivate, or build confidence in students.
• Teach students study skills, note-taking skills, and test-taking strategies.
• Review class material with students by discussing text, working solutions to problems, or reviewing worksheets or other assignments.
• Provide instruction to individual or small groups of students to improve academic performance, improve occupational skills, or prepare for academic or occupational tests.
• Assess students' progress throughout tutoring sessions.
• Schedule tutoring appointments with students or their parents.
• Monitor student performance or assist students in academic environments, such as classrooms, laboratories, or computing centers.
• Organize tutoring environment to promote productivity and learning.
• Participate in training and development sessions to improve tutoring practices or learn new tutoring techniques.
• Develop teaching or training materials, such as handouts, study materials, or quizzes.
• Partner with the instructors and ensure that all students who need help in mathematics and English attend tutoring sessions.
• Follow up with the instructors and students to ensure that the learning objectives are met.

QUALIFICATION

• A masters in English preferred.
• Three years of experience in teaching at college level.
• Three years of experience in tutoring college students.
• Background in English (College English/Professional writing/College Composition.
• Strong knowledge of APA 7thEdition.
• Strong interpersonal skills.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $24.00 per hour
