Asst. Professor - Environmental Engineering teaches courses in the discipline area of environmental engineering. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Asst. Professor - Environmental Engineering provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Asst. Professor - Environmental Engineering typically reports to a department head. This position will serve as a Processing Assistant III in Environmental Services and perform skilled administrative support work performing a wide variety of clerical duties and related work as apparent or assigned. Supervision is received from the Environmental Health Supervisor. The normal work schedule includes Monday -Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Clerical duties include answering phone calls, managing daily mail, data entry, filing, and scanning documents.
Assist with scheduling of final inspections.
Manage applications, complete permits and fulfill daily permit requests.
Manage information requests for public records.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
General knowledge of office or work unit procedures, methods, and practice. General knowledge of and ability to use correct spelling, punctuation, and specialized vocabulary; ability to proofread. General knowledge of office accounting and record-keeping procedures, mathematics, and their application in the work environment. Ability to learn and apply a variety of guidelines. Ability to use a variety of office equipment. Ability to work with people with courtesy and tact. Ability to screen communication based on predetermined guidelines to independently respond or route inquiries. Ability to record and compile information based on general guidelines. Ability to gather and give information and instructions regarding the work process or procedures. Ability to balance and reconcile figures. Ability to learn to use specialized office equipment.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
High school diploma or GED and 1-3 years' experience in office assistant/secretarial experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This work requires the frequent exertion of up to 10 pounds of force; work regularly requires speaking or hearing, using hands to finger, handle or feel and repetitive motions, frequently requires walking and sitting, and occasionally requires standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, reaching with hands and arms and pushing or pulling; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light traffic).
