Position: World Languages and Cultural Exchange Department Coordinator (7-12) Location: McCarthy/CHS Reports to: Assistant Superintendent Job Description: •Serve as primary evaluator for world language teachers at the middle and high school levels •Provide effective supervision of all world language teachers •Service as the point person and developer for all cultural exchange programs •Train staff in the implementation of new curriculum as approved by the Assistant Superintendent •Establish expectation with the department for advances in instructional practice •Serve as a primary resource and support for world language teachers in experimenting with new instructional practices •Implement staff development activities under the direction of the assistant superintendent •Implement on-going professional development through the use of workshops, co-teaching, demonstration lessons, study groups, personalized feedback, and staff meetings •Make recommendation to Assistant Superintendent for professional development of world language teachers •Service as a leader in introducing resources to world language teachers to support instructional work •Promote the sharing and dissemination of best practices among world language teachers •Sustain a process for training staff in the implementation of curriculum •Keep current in recommended instructional strategies through on-going study and participating in workshops and conferences •Coordinate the review and development and development of curriculum under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent, including the revision and selection of textbooks •Analyze the program needs of the world language teachers in advancing effective instructional practice •Evaluate the instructional program under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent •Edit and prepare curriculum projects •Assist middle school and high school principals with information gathering and internal school communications necessary for program decision-making. •Coordinate special programs for world language teachers •Foster communication and articulation of curriculum and instruction among world language teachers •Facilitate the management of change emerging from Central Administration and/ or Department of Elementary and Secondary Education •Develop, implement, and monitor the budget for world language instruction •Organize and implement a comprehensive home-school-community involvement program •Coordinate the work of the program area through planned staff meetings •Responsible for data administration and analysis for the department •Assist with recruitment and selection of new personnel •Participate in after-school/evening department meetings and public forums as needed •May require teaching duties as outlined in Chelmsford Administrator’s Contract (CAA) •Perform other duties as requested by the assistant superintendent Terms of Employment: * Full year position * See Chelmsford Administrator’s Contract (CAA)
