    https://fulbright.uark.edu/departments/math/Summary of Job Duties:The Department of Mathematical Sciences in the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Arkansas, invites applications for a full-time non-tenure track Teaching Assistant Professor in Mathematical Sciences to start in August 2024 with an initial appointment for a period of up to three academic years and the possibility of annual renewal, subject to program needs, availability of funds, and satisfactory performance of duties. This is a standard nine-month faculty appointment.

    We seek a candidate with a strong and developing national reputation, achieved through a compelling research record; one who demonstrates curiosity in emerging technologies and novel approaches to traditional methods. This non-tenure track Teaching Assistant Professor position entails conducting research leading to publication, engaging in creative and/or scholarly activities, designing courses at university level, developing, and implementing new methods of teaching to reflect changes in the field, providing curriculum material, constructing syllabi, leading classroom instruction, writing and administering exams, mentoring and evaluating students, creating interest and understanding among students.

    The Teaching Assistant Professor will additionally participate by serving on various faculty- and student-oriented committees, providing service on campus and in related professional organizations, and participating in faculty governance in the department and on campus.

    Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

    Duties will include:
    *80% Teaching
    *10% Research
    *10% Service

    The Department of Mathematical Sciences offers degrees with focuses on applied math, pure math and statistics. Courses prepare students for careers in secondary education, actuarial science and industry and graduate school. Students will receive a broad, interdisciplinary education, highlighting the utility and value of mathematics in many careers and disciplines.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    With submitted materials, the candidate must demonstrate:

    • PH.D or terminal degree in Mathematics (Pure/Applied), Statistics, Mathematics Education, or a closely related field from an accredited institution of higher education conferred by the date of initial appointment.

    • Evidence of scholarly productivity.

    • Evidence of exceptional teaching at the university level.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Demonstrated excellence with teaching students of diverse academic backgrounds.

    • Evidence of teaching experience as instructor of record.

    • An active record of successful publication.

    • Demonstrated ability to develop/revise courses at the university level.

    • Commitment to, or experience in, mentoring undergraduate and graduate students in independent research.

    • Experience with coordinating/supervising multi-section courses at the university level.
