QUALIFICATIONS:          

• Bachelor’s Degree, Master's preferred
• Massachusetts Licensure Required                

REPORTS TO: Building Principal

JOB GOAL: Responsible for the instruction of history and social studies classes at the secondary level in a grade 9-12 Alternative school setting.

PERFORMANCE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Instruct students in history and social studies at a secondary level.
2. Create instructional resources for use in the classroom.
3. Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities.
4. Create a positive educational climate for students.
5. Meet course and school-wide student performance goals.
6. Participate in ongoing professional development.
7. Create lesson plans and modify accordingly throughout the year.
8. Maintain electronic grade books.
9. Create projects for class and across curriculum.
10. Utilize various curriculum resources.
11. Integrate competencies, goals, and objectives into lesson plans.
12. Utilize curricula that reflects the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the students served.
13. Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
14. Observe and evaluate student's performance.
15. Manage student behavior in the classroom by invoking approved incentives, interventions and disciplinary procedures.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  School Year

SALARY AND BENEFITS:  Per Teacher Contract
