Professor - Liberal Arts provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Asst. Professor - Liberal Arts typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and contributes to research In a specialized field.   • Appointments are made on a term-by-term basis. Adjunct faculty are required to successfully complete an online Canvas LMS orientation course before being scheduled, as well as other training if required by the department. This is an on-site blended/hybrid course, students attend class in person 60% of the time and complete the remaining 40% online through Park’s Canvas Learning Management System.     CA103 Public Speaking and CA105 Introduction to Human Communication Minimum Qualifications
    Master’s degree in communication or master’s in a closely related field with 18 graduate hours in communication. Previous teaching experience at the college level.
    CA103 Public Speaking Course Description
    A development of the ability to speak clearly and express ideas effectively before an audience. Students plan, compose, and deliver various kinds of speeches and talks. Principles of effective rhetorical presentation are related to basic purposes and forms of public speech-communication.
    CA105 Introduction to Human Communication Course Description
    This course focuses on the most frequently used communication skills. The course demonstrates the natural relationships between communicating one-to-one and in public, group, and meditated contexts, showing that skills in one can be employed in the other and given practice in both. Students will be introduced to the communication process, listening, concepts of self, language, perception, small group and workplace communication, intercultural communication, mediated communication, the speech process (including topic selection and audience analysis, organization, development and support of speeches, delivery) and informative and persuasive public speaking.
