Guest Services Associate-Clay

Reports to: Morean Center for Clay Operations Manager

The Morean Center for Clay in the Warehouse Arts District seeks an entry level, front-line part-time guest services associate (29 or fewer hours per week) with previous ceramics experience. Our mission is to connect people with art and the Morean Center for Clay is one of 4 distinct visual arts facilities affiliated with the Morean Arts Center in St. Petersburg, Florida. The Guest Services Associate – Clay ensures we happily engage all visitors who come to the Morean Center for Clay. The successful applicant must have previous experience in ceramics and be familiar with the tools, materials, and processes related to the ceramic arts. The position operates in a busy, public environment, so the candidate must be comfortable with multi-tasking, including answering phones, welcoming visitors, answering questions, and working on a computer. Excellent computer and accurate data entry skills (we use the Altru system by Blackbaud) are vital, along with reliable transportation and the ability to work weekdays and weekends and occasional other hours as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Actively welcome and happily engage with visitors within a busy, public environment.
• Can easily learn and understand established standards, practices and policies and uses critical thinking to make sound decisions, even in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability and proficiency to handle high volume point-of-sale processing via computer while adhering to cash-handling guidelines.
• Ability to work independently as well as within a team setting.
• Ability to retain information on promotions, events, and discounts that affect ticket prices.
• Responds appropriately to a range of guest inquiries politely and diplomatically.
• Maintains cleanliness and organization of the admissions area and surrounding areas.
• Be eager to learn about and engage others in what the Morean Center for Clay is and what it offers the public.

Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED required with at least 1 year’s work experience desired, ideally in the attractions industry or in a front-line, customer facing environment. Candidates must be familiar with processes, materials, and tools related to the ceramic arts and must be able to lift moderate to heavy objects ( -25 lbs). Must possess demonstrated competencies in technology, strong oral and written communication skills, and a collaborative and teamwork-based approach to work.

The Morean Center for Clay’s operating hours are Wednesdays-Saturdays 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and occasional other hours are required as business needs dictate.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $13.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 29 per week
