Asst. Professor - Liberal Arts teaches courses in the discipline area of liberal arts. Develops and designs curriculum plans to foster student learning, stimulate class discussions, and ensures student engagement. Being an Asst. Professor - Liberal Arts provides tutoring and academic counseling to students, maintains classes related records, and assesses student coursework. Collaborates and supports colleagues regarding research interests and co-curricular activities. Additionally, Asst. Professor - Liberal Arts typically reports to a department head. Requires a PhD or terminal degree appropriate to the field. Has experience and is qualified to teach at undergraduate and graduate levels and contributes to research In a specialized field. Walden School of Liberal Arts is a small charter school in Utah Valley seeking a part time and/or full time counselor to work with students in grades K-6 & 7-12.
We are small enough that you can work with students on an individualized basis and make a positive difference in their lives. You will also have the opportunity to participate in exciting activities such as college visits and international travel with students and other teachers.
Duties include (but are not limited to):
Supporting the Walden Mission and Charter
Scheduling students in classes
Training for and maintain USOE State Online Education Program
Entering incoming high school transcript information as needed
Sterling Scholar coordinator
Transcripts of transferring students
Maintain eTranscript Program
Create College & Career Ready plans with students and parents
Hold Parent Nights for Counseling Activities
Help students with FAFSA/ Financial Aid/ Scholarships
Help coordinate College Trips
Teach College Preparation class
Plan Summer School with Administrative Team
Implement Credit Recovery Programs
Suicide Prevention and anti-bullying parent night and teacher training
Academic probation letters
Graduation progress checks
Implement and oversee Internship Program
Work with administration to provide quality College & Career programs for students
MUST be a certified guidance counselor (master's program). Through the state of Utah is preferable but not required.
