St. Mary's University invites applications for a tenure-track position in the Department of Psychology at the Assistant Professor level beginning Fall 2024. Candidates for the position must have a PhD or PsyD in Psychology, preferably in clinical psychology, counseling psychology, or related psychological discipline with a strong commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and community engagement. The department has a strong empirical focus that permeates the major and seeks a practitioner with similar focus and training. Doctoral degree must be from an accredited institution and must be completed at time of employment; ABD candidates will be considered. The Department of Psychology offers the B.A. in Psychology and a graduate certificate in Dual Credit Teaching. The department, one of the largest undergraduate majors in the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, is committed to excellence in teaching and scholarship and is actively involved in mentoring and supporting student research.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach in the various programs supported by our department, supervise research, maintain an active research program in his/her area of expertise. Teaching responsibilities include abnormal psychology, statistics, research methods, and courses in area of specialization (e.g., clinical practices, school psychology, health psychology, or others). Candidates able to contribute to diverse courses in the University core and Psychology core and to develop/teach new electives are especially desired. Additional duties include holding office hours and advising students.
