    Uafs.eduSummary of Job Duties:This is a full-time, 12-month, open rank (Associate or Full Professor) academic/administrative position. Duties include the following: teaching social work courses, management and assessment of the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) program, research, scholarship, and service. The Director of the BSW program is responsible for developing, planning, overseeing, supervising, and monitoring the Social Work Program and its accreditation by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) as well as the faculty and student progress within the program. Additional duties include student advisement, recruitment, and retention-related activities. The BSW Program Director reports directly to the Dean of the College of Health, Education, and Human Sciences (CHEHS).Qualifications:

    Required Education and/or Work Experience: Minimum qualifications include a master's degree in social work from a CSWE accredited program, Ph.D. in Social Work or a related field preferred; knowledge of CSWE standards and accreditation process; college-level teaching experience inclusive of social work-specific courses; minimum of two years of post-MSW practice experience; eligibility for the rank of associate or full professor, and experience with CSWE program accreditation processes and requirements. Arkansas state licensure (LSW, LMSW, LCSW) as a social worker, or willingness to apply for reciprocity if licensed in another state, is required. Experience with technology in the classroom and online course modules is preferred.

    Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Administration of the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) program, maintaining CSWE accreditation, supervising and promoting growth of social work faculty and students.
    • Teach a variety of BSW program courses, 50% of teaching load devoted to the administration of BSW program per academic semester.
    • Scholarly and creative professional activities in field(s) of expertise, as per promotion requirements, including fundable research investigations.
    • Service at the department, college, university, community, and professional level.
    • Advising of student in the BSW program.
    • Attendance and participation in all faculty meetings, commencement ceremonies, and other department, college, and university meetings/events as required.
    • Continuous engagement in professional development and continuing education.
    • Other duties as assigned by the Dean of the College of Health, Education, and Human Sciences.

    Other Job Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Monitor, promote faculty teaching and advising activities.
    • Engage in student recruitment and retention activities.
    • Manage CSWE accreditation requirements;
    • Report all Title IX events.
    • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner to foster teamwork and to provide leadership for direct reports.
    • On-campus administrative oversight, Monday through Friday, of the Social Work Department Office.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    To perform the job successfully, the following competencies are required for the essential functions of this position:

    • Demonstrated leadership ability;
    • Knowledge of the CSWE standards and accreditation process;
    • Knowledge of teaching practices at the university-level. Working knowledge of Blackboard (Bb) learning management system, distance tele-conferencing tools like Bb Collaborate or Zoom platforms, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
    • Demonstrated scholarship germane to the field of social work;
    • Experience with curriculum development;
    • Previous administrative experience, and;
    • Participation in professional activities.


    Additional Information:

    Working Relationships: Will interact with faculty, staff, and students in the Social Work Department, as well as in the College of Health, Education, and Human Sciences, across campus, and in the community.

    List Employees Supervised: Social Work faculty, staff, and interns/work study students.

    Special Job Dimensions: Work performed primarily in an office/classroom setting. Occasional travel and extended hours required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly exhibits digital dexterity when entering data into computer. Required abilities include walking, standing, and sitting for extended periods. Visual demands include close, relatively detailed vision when focusing on a computer screen.

    Salary Information:

    Up to $100,000, Commensurate with education and experience
