  • Assistant Professor in Theoretical/Computational Biophysics                                                     Indiana University (IU) IndianapolisThe Department of Physics at IU Indianapolis (http://www.physics.iupui.edu/) invites applications for a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Theoretical/Computational Biophysics, to begin August 1, 2024. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in physics or a related discipline, demonstrate the ability to initiate and sustain an externally funded program of research, and be able to teach effectively at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Researchers with a record of interdisciplinary research are encouraged to apply. Faculty members in the department work in biophysics, condensed matter physics, AMO physics, physics education research, and precision measurements. IU Indianapolis, the health sciences focused campus of Indiana University, has strong bio-related research programs in multiple schools across campus, including the School of Medicine and the Luddy School of Informatics. This health-related focus provides the successful candidate plenty of opportunities for collaboration with research groups in these schools and others across campus. IU Indianapolis was formerly IUPUI, a joint campus of Indiana and Purdue Universities in Indianapolis, but as of July 1, 2024, a realignment has resulted in the campus, and Science departments in particular, becoming a part of the newly named IU Indianapolis (https://www.iupui.edu/vision/faqs.html). As part of this restructuring, the Indiana General Assembly has provided $60 million to significantly expand and renovate research and laboratory space. The university is also creating two new institutes, the Convergent Bioscience and Technology Institute and the Institute for Human Health and Wellbeing, both of which have a significant bioscience focus. The personnel and resources of these institutes will provide additional avenues for collaborations.The Department is especially interested in recruiting a candidate from groups that are under-represented in Physics.
