Supervision and coordination of the Child Protective Services (CPS) Team II. This involves direct supervision of investigator/assessment/treatment social workers in the following duties: supervise staff who investigates accepted reports of child abuse, neglect, and dependency for either investigative/family assessment. Supervise confirmed cases for case management when necessary. Position approves safety assessments, including petitioning the courts when needed. Works with DSS legal staff regarding Child Welfare issues. Attend Permanency Planning Action Team (PPAT), Child and Family Team (CFT), and Child Planning Conferences (CPC) as needed. Attend court to support social workers as needed. Ensure staff adhere to all children’s services/Child Welfare policies/standards. This position consults with the Child Welfare Program Manager, Program Administrator, Director, NCDHHS Child Welfare State Consultants, and other State officials regarding policies and procedures. Protective Services supervisory after hour’s duties/”on-call” are rotated among all CPS team supervisors. Other duties as required by the Child Welfare Program Manager and Administration.
Master’s Degree from an accredited school of social work and twoyears social work or counseling experience; or a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited school of social work and three years of social work or counseling experience; or a Master’s Degree in a counseling field and three years of social work or counseling; or a four-year degree in a human service field related curriculum including at least 15 semester hours in courses related to social work or counseling and four years of social work or counseling experience; or graduation from a four-year college or university and five years of experience in rehabilitation counseling, pastoral counseling, or a related human service field providing experience in the techniques of casework group work or community organization; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
