Job Description
Under the supervision of the School Director and in collaboration with the Clinical Supervisor, the SPED Supervisor ensures quality academic instruction for students by researching appropriate curricula, training classroom teachers and instructors on the curricula, assisting teachers in lesson planning, and co-teaching as necessary. In addition, the SPED Supervisor is responsible for collaborating with both school and district staff to ensure compliance with all SD DOE rules and regulations regarding students IEPs. The SPED Supervisor is responsible for writing the present levels of performance and draft goals and objectives and will assist the Clinical Supervisor with skills-based assessments required for triennial reviews. When appropriate, the SPED Supervisor will conduct academic testing for triennial reviews as well as the SD DOE yearly state testing. This position may also require the implementation of crisis intervention techniques.

Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to)
Collaborates with school and district staff to develop IEP for each student – writes the Present Levels of Performance and Drafts Goals and Objectives.
Conduct skills-based and academic assessments as required by triennial evaluations.
In collaboration with the Clinical Supervisor, oversees the collection of data for IEP goals and objectives and writes quarterly progress reports.
Research and provide curricula and training for the classroom teachers and instructors.
Ensures implementation of high-quality academic instruction at each student’s developmental, instructional level of each student.
Co-teach in classrooms as necessary..
Assists Teachers in maintaining a positive learning environment and responding to the individual needs of students.
Completes additional duties as assigned
Requirements
Qualifications, Experience, Skills, and Abilities Required
Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Special Education
Holds or is eligible for Special Education Certification from the South Dakota DOE
Experience with children with autism required
Two years of special education teaching experience preferred
Valid Driver’s License
Ability to pass a criminal background check according to standard policy
Proficiency with technology
Authorized to work in the United States of America
