Description
Gustavus Adolphus College invites applications for a temporary Assistant Athletic Trainer. Approximate start date is January 3, 2023 through May 31, 2023.
The Assistant Athletic Trainer will possess a proven ability to work in a fast paced collegiate setting caring for student-athletes. Gustavus, strong liberal arts college, competes in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference as an NCAA Division III member. Sport coverage would be women's hockey and men's and women's tennis, along with other duties as assigned.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serve as Assistant Athletic Trainer in prevention, immediate care, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of athletes in the athletic training room and intercollegiate athletic events (as assigned by the Head Athletic Trainer).
- Coordinate and maintain Health Status Questionnaire and insurance information of all intercollegiate athletes in all sports.
- Assist the Head Athletic Trainer with the coordination and maintenance of all physical forms for all intercollegiate athletes.
- Assist with the maintenance of athletic training injury records, including daily SOAP notes and daily Statistical sheets.
- Assist the Head Athletic Trainer with the enforcement of all Policies and Procedures as stated in the Policies and Procedures Manual.
- Assist the Head Athletic Trainer with the administration of the overall athletic training program as per the NCAA Sports Medicine Handbook.
- Assist the Head Athletic Trainer in any other assigned duties and responsibilities as designated by the Head Athletic Trainer.
Preceptor Athletic Training Program:
- Report to: Program Director of accredited athletic training curriculum program.
- Serve as approved preceptor in the athletic training major by supervising athletic training students in the athletic training room and sport coverage. Provide students with as many meaningful opportunities to further their clinical educational experience.
- Regularly evaluate athletic training students clinical athletic training techniques and skills. Evaluate each student's work habits, professional potential, relationships with others, etc.
- Supervise clinical experiences for athletic training students in cooperation with Program Director of the Athletic Training Curriculum.
- Evaluate each student major utilizing forms as provided by the Program Director.
- All other duties as assigned.
Prerequisites
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree in athletic training and BOC certified in good standing.
- Knowledge of NCAA/NATA Best practices, rules, and regulations.
- Minnesota Board of Medical Practice Registered or eligible.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous Athletic Training Experience.
