Athletic Trainer treats and prevents athletic injuries by developing therapies to reduce pain and improve mobility under the direction of a physician. Assists in exercise instruction and demonstration, patient evaluation and testing. Being an Athletic Trainer may require state license to practice. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in exercise science, sports science or equivalent. Additionally, Athletic Trainer typically requires certification as a Certified Athletic Trainer. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Athletic Trainer occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.     Description

    Anderson University located in central Indiana is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Athletic Trainer.

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: assist Director of Sports Medicine in all aspects of the Sports Medicine Department including, evlaulation, treatment, rehabilitation, documentation of athletic injuries, supervision and teaching of students in the Athletic Training program, and provide on-site coverage for athletic teams as assigned by the Director of Sports Medicine.

    Qualifications


    The successful candidate must have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree, Master's preferred. BOC certified. Must be willing to supervise and teach athletic training students. Ability to work as part of a team environment. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to and ability to work with a diverse student population. An understanding of and commitment to the mission of a Christian college is required.

    Must meet university lifestyle expectations.

    This is a 10-month position.

    The Bill and Gloria Gaither Sports Medicine Center is located in the Kardatzke Wellness Center (KWC), a 132,000 sq. ft. facility providing programming for health, recreation, and wellness in all forms-spiritually, emotionally, physically, and socially.

    The Bill and Gloria Gaither Sports Medicine Center is a 4,000 sq. ft. space that houses 4 athletic trainers and 1 graduate assistant, a physician’s office, a large open treatment/rehabilitation area with appropriate modalities, locker rooms for staff, and an extensive hydrotherapy area, in addition to a 450 sq. ft. dedicated taping area.
