Athletic Trainer treats and prevents athletic injuries by developing therapies to reduce pain and improve mobility under the direction of a physician. Assists in exercise instruction and demonstration, patient evaluation and testing. Being an Athletic Trainer may require state license to practice. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in exercise science, sports science or equivalent. Additionally, Athletic Trainer typically requires certification as a Certified Athletic Trainer. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Athletic Trainer occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Athletic Trainers work at the height of their license at Excelsior Orthopaedics, whether that be in our Express Urgent Care Clinic or in a clinical settings working alongside physicians.
With increased volume at current locations we are looking to add several patient-centered and team focused clinicians to our practice!
Duties and Responsibilities
Works in the Rehabilitation Clinic, closely with physical and occupational therapists to progress patients and maintain a safe and efficient patient flow
Teach and monitor athletes on proper and safe lifting/conditioning techniques
Educate patients regarding injuries, reconditioning exercises, and/or injury recovery as needed
Identify patients that would benefit from Excelsior Sports Training Program (including Strides and Overhead Throwing Athletes)
