Athletic Trainer treats and prevents athletic injuries by developing therapies to reduce pain and improve mobility under the direction of a physician. Assists in exercise instruction and demonstration, patient evaluation and testing. Being an Athletic Trainer may require state license to practice. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in exercise science, sports science or equivalent. Additionally, Athletic Trainer typically requires certification as a Certified Athletic Trainer. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Athletic Trainer occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. **Clinical:** * Provides athletic training services to area recreational groups, schools, and other organization as assigned * Assist with Saturday morning clinics * Assist with planning and implementing pre-season physicals for athletes * Remains competent in the following areas: * Modalities such as heat, cold, ultrasound, and electrotherapy * Therapeutic exercise * First Aide * Attends and provides continuing education in servicing * Serves as mentor for new employee(s) or volunteers * Serves as clinical supervisor for student athletic trainers while completing their hours **Budget:** * Assist with maintaining an accurate inventory of sports medicine supplies and remaining within the monthly supply budget * Charges patients appropriately and in a timely manner for treatment and equipment **Other:** * Must be competent in use of computer for documentation and charging purposes * Must provide own transportation **Requirements:** * Must have a Bachelors Degree in Athletic Training/Physical Education or Sports Medicine or related field * Must hold a current Mississippi License * Must be certified in CPR * Must demonstrate competency in assessment and treatment of the following areas where applicable: Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults, and GeriatricsRequirements:
