Athletic Trainer treats and prevents athletic injuries by developing therapies to reduce pain and improve mobility under the direction of a physician. Assists in exercise instruction and demonstration, patient evaluation and testing. Being an Athletic Trainer may require state license to practice. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in exercise science, sports science or equivalent. Additionally, Athletic Trainer typically requires certification as a Certified Athletic Trainer. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Athletic Trainer occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. General Summary:
The Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) is a skilled allied health professional specializing in education, prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries. Effectively interacts with patients, physicians, and other healthcare providers while maintaining the standards of care and code of ethics as detailed by the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA). The ATC may be responsible for community education and college/university education and athletic training services.
This position will cover a wide spectrum of services for the college/university setting, physical therapy outpatient setting, and will participate in community outreach events as designated.
**Assigned to a local college athletic department during the Academic year (approximately August 1- May 15)
